Vintage Carved Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch, Youth in a Plumed Cap, Rope Twist Frame

A carved shell cameo of a youth in a plumed cap with a buckled band, a high ruffled collar at the neck, set in a silver tone frame edged in twisted rope. A bail at the top and a pin behind let it be worn as a pendant or a brooch.

Shell cameos are carved through the layers of a seashell, the white upper layer cut away to leave the figure standing on the warm brown beneath.

Condition: A crack runs top to bottom through the right side of the shell, and adhesive is visible on the back where it has been secured. Wear and tarnish to the frame. Unmarked.

Measurements: 1.5 in by 1 in.

Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth; keep away from water and heat.
