Vintage Gold Filled Carved Shell Cameo Cuff Bracelet, Floral Filigree

An open cuff in yellow gold filled metal, worked in filigree scrolls and stamped flowers, centred on a hand carved shell cameo of a lady with her hair piled in curls, set in a rope-twist bezel.

It is hallmarked for gold filled: a layer of gold bonded over a base metal, which wears far longer than plating. Shell cameos are carved through the layers of a seashell, so the pale figure stands out against the warm orange beneath; turn the cuff over and you can see that orange layer through the back of the setting. The flowers either side are textured and highlighted, with a bead at each centre.

Condition: Very good vintage condition, with spots of slight discoloration.

Measurements: about 2.5 in across the inside opening; slightly adjustable.

Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth; avoid polishing compounds, which wear through gold fill, and keep the cameo away from water and heat.
