Vintage Carved Shell Cameo Brooch, Lady with Flowers in Her Hair, Prong Set

A small carved shell cameo brooch: a woman with long flowing hair and flowers at her crown, her shoulder draped and pinned, held in four claw prongs on a silver tone mount with a pin and safety catch behind.

Shell cameos are carved through the layers of a seashell, the pale upper layer cut away to leave the figure standing on the warm ground beneath.

Condition: Age staining to the shell, including an orange spot at the top of the hair; wear to the mount.

Measurements: 1 in by 0.75 in.

Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth; keep away from water and heat.
