A beaded border frames the scene, the bail is a curl of scrolled wire, and it closes with a snap.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eInside, it is stamped with the maker's mark, W\u0026amp;H Co. in a heart, ringed by 1\/4 Gold Shell and Pat. Aug. 2 04. The patent date of 2 August 1904 means it was made after then, and Wightman and Hough closed around 1922, so this locket dates from those years.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWightman and Hough made jewellery in Providence from the mid-19th century and were best known for their lockets.
