Charlotte Diefenbach Caftan in Ice
This short caftan or mini dress be worn as a cover up for the beach or a long tunic over a pair of jeans.
This short caftan is printed here with the Diefenbach print. It is a celebration of Diefenbach’s worship of nature, with a pattern of shadowy dancers and musicians marching joyously in single file as in his most famous work of art, a 68-metre-long frieze entitled Per Aspera ad Astra – “through hardship to the stars”. It embodies the summer spirit as a religion of freedom. It all goes back to the time when he lived on the island of Capri, in the 1930s, where he had established a very controversial and scandalous commune.
